5 Makeup Artist Brush Tricks

Just as a painter uses brushes to create on a canvas, makeup brushes are must use tools to utilize when painting your face. So here are five best brush tricks to keep in mind.
  1. Wash Your Brushes: Always wash your makeup brushes at least once in a week. Washing them preserves the hair and shape, and also remove excess makeup to keep the bristles hygienic. Use liquid soap or shampoo, massage and rinse until the water runs clear. If your brush feels dry and stiff, rub a small amount of olive oil through the bristles before cleaning. This will soften the hair.
  2. Blend: The most important secret to keep in mind when using brushes is always focussing on blending. You can take the darkest shadow and turn it into the seamless smokey eye if you blend well enough.
  3. Quality vs Quantity: You don't need a huge assortment of brushes for everyday use. The key brushes to have in your collection are a foundation, blush/powder, bronzer, contour and 3 eyeshadow brushes- one for application, one for contouring and the third one for blending.
  4. Liquid Deserve Brushes Too: Liquid and cream blushes should be applied with a blush brush, just like powder blushes, to achieve an even blend. Take a small amount of liquid blush and apply on your hand, gather with a blush brush and apply to the apples of the cheeks until the colour is even.
  5. Double Dipping: To save en extra step, your foundation brush can also double as a concealer brush.

"A dewy finish refracts light better than a matte finish." If you're in need of more coverage, keep in mind a peach-colored concealer. If you have a darker complexion, go more orange. If the pigmentation is redder in hue, try a green-ish cover-up.  Reminder: This color-correcting step is meant to cover your pigmentation—not your skin—which should then be met with a foundation that matches your natural skin tone.   The Stronger Stuff Helps: If makeup ain't cutting it, you can ...
